What is Rehab Plus for Osteoarthritis?
Rehab Plus for Osteoarthritis is a program based on the most up to date and comprehensive research on using active rehabilitation to treat Osteoarthritis symptoms.
At Therapia we have implemented the findings of this research to create an effective osteoarthritis-targeted program that is customisable to everyone’s individual needs and abilities! That is to say, we have incorporated the ability for each individual to extend themselves with this program and achieve their own personal exercise goals.
How Does The Program Work?
You will first need an Initial Assessment with one of our physios to understand your history and complete some baseline functional assessments that can be used to monitor your progress.
Following this you will have an Individual Exercise Session to customise the exercise program to suit your individual needs and then you can attend one of our Rehab Plus Exercise Classes. Ideally you would attend 10 of these classes over 6 weeks. The sessions are run by our physios who have had training in the Rehab program. Our physios will take you through your exercises, monitor your progress, and make changes to these as you progress through the program.
It is suggested to have a follow up review session after 3 months to assess how well you have progressed and more importantly what you will need going forward to continue to build your strength and stability!
Rehab Plus Exercise Classes will be run weekly at the same times as our Clinical Exercise sessions, and with 26 classes every week you should be able to find at least 2 times that suit you!
If you would like a hand finding times that would suit you, please don’t hesitate to check with the online booking link, or get in touch with us by phone on 8221 5011 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Can I Participate in Rehab Plus for OA?
Rehab Plus for OA is a program for all individuals who experience any hip and/or knee osteoarthritis symptoms, regardless of severity. You may participate in the program if you have hip or knee joint problems that resulted in visiting a health care provider.
Note that you do not need a GP referral to join the Rehab Plus Program, but if deemed appropriate by your GP you may be eligible for a rebate from Medicare (only applicable to 1 – 1 sessions).
You may not be able to participate in the Rehab Plus Program if:
There are other reasons for your hip and/or knee pain, including; tumor, inflammatory joint disease, result of hip fracture, soft tissue or connective tissue problems
You have other symptoms that are more pronounced than the osteoarthritis problems (for example chronic generalized pain or fibromyalgia)
We still recommend seeing one of our physios as even if Rehab Plus does not suit you as we can make an individualised program to help you on the path to recovery.
How will it help me?
The most up to date studies on OA treatment have shown that active rehabilitation programs like Rehab Plus help people with mild, moderate and severe osteoarthritis reduce their pain levels, and improve their mobility and quality of life. The program is designed for over 40 year olds who have Osteoarthritis and have not had a knee replacement.
Research studies of similar programs have shown a significant improvement (32%) in reducing pain and improving functional ability for those suffering from osteoarthritis of the hip and knee. They also found participants were able to reduce their intake of pain medication and in many cases delay or avoid having a hip or knee replacement altogether.
Research has shown patient education regarding OA can significantly improve patient outcomes. To help raise awareness in the community, we are hosting FREE ONLINE 1 hour education workshops as part of the Rehab Plus Program. These education sessions are a way of increasing awareness among the health community about OA, and allowing those that experience these symptoms to understand what we can do to help them.
These sessions will cover:
